Microsoft Flight Simulator: Sim Update 5 provides performance improvements at the end of July
It is known that the Microsoft Flight Simulator is well-known for its demanding system requirements for PC; however, with the forthcoming “Sim update 5” the developers are hoping to improve the speed of operation significantly. In addition, Sim Update 5 will be released alongside an Xbox Series version on July 27. The performance boost doesn’t have anything to do with DirectX 12 (the interface won’t be fully supported till later) or techniques for scaling up such as DLSS However, the developers from Asobo have entirely changed the programming the simulation, as well as the engine itself. These improvements will lower the use of the CPU and boost the frame rate overall.
For example, Sebastian Wloch (head of Asobo) played the game using Update 4 and Update five on an Intel Core i7 9700K with Nvidia RTX 2060 Super in 4K, with Ultra settings. In Update 4, the flight simulation was running at 32-40 fps, noticeable blurry. In addition, each CPU core was fully used. In the latest update, the game is running at 53-60fps in the same system, without the judder and less CPU use.
